Dimensional Weighing Scales in the Central Carolina Scale Electronic Catalog Doran
Hawkeye C Perfect Meaure Systems No longer is package weight alone the only criteria for shipping packages. Now, the actual size and space the item takes is also one of the criteria used in assessing actual freight rates. Dimensional analysis of products is going to soon become part of every size companys shipping procedures because profitability is starting to be come dramatically affected for companies when items are entered incorrectly and shipped. Even if you enter an item's weight perfectly, you still can be victim of a "chargeback" unless you have the correct dimensional measurements for the item. Most major shipping
companies designate their charges for shipping packages based on what
is called the dim weight or dimensional weight (DW)
of the object being shipped. The standard formula for determining
the dimensional weight of an item is (DW = length (L) x width (W)
x height (H) divided by a dimensional weight conversion factor, usually
194 for domestic shipping. These calculations are used for billing
and to consider the amount of space a package will take up in relation
to the weight of the package. When these calculations are inaccurate
due to poor dimensional measuring techniques, the result affects everyone
from increased costs to inadequate and wasted shelf and storage space.
Calculating the cubic dimension of a box is as simple as calculating the length x width x height. The math might be easy, but the hard part is performing those calculations quickly and accurately. Using the tools that most companies use - a tape measure and a calculator, have resulted in additional shipping charges from UPS, FED EX, DHL, and other freight companies. Some small companies can have as many as 300 to 400 of these additional charges or charge-backs a month. Rather than taking the time and effort to dispute the charges, most simply pay them and suffer a loss of profits that month. The 1200C Dimensional Weighing system offers a way for companies like yours to calculate dimensional weight quickly and accurately, paying for the correct shipping charges and eliminating charge-backs at the end of the month. The 1200C uses a system of optical sensors and a sensitive load cell to calculate the dimensional weight and display the results on a large multi-line LCD display. The Doran Hawkeye
1200C scale can instantly measure the weight, dimensions and volume
of any case up to 24" x 24" x 24" and 150 pounds. All
the operator has to do is position the case on the scale -- the Hawkeye
1200C does the rest by calculating weight, height, width, depth, and
volume and displaying the results on its bright LCD display.
The Doran Hawkeye 1200C is designed to be used as a stand-alone cubing scale OR as an integral part of your data collection system. Doran has partnered with Epic Group Software to produce the Hawkeye Perfect Measure System. The result is a unique system consisting of the Hawkeye 1200C and the Perfect Measure Software that gives you the ultimate solution for cubing applications, built to withstand rigors of an industrial environment, while providing data you need. Data Sync and Transportation Services Users will quickly learn to rely on the accuracy, durability, and versatility of the Hawkeye Perfect Measure System. Recently, Consumer
Goods Technology (CGT) Magazine awarded Epic Group Software an Editor's
Pick award for their Hawkeye Perfect Measure systems in their
annual Readers Choice survey of technology solutions utilized by Consumer
Goods companies during 2007.
Hawkeye GDSN Perfect Measure Systems, Cubotics for Cases, can be easily integrated with Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems utilizing XML, flat file, or web services. Epic also provides a Hawkeye GDSN Perfect Measure, Exactics for Eaches, that can easily be integrated with Space management Systems during New Item Introductions.
